New Stuff for Sale! "Humbug Horns"

With all of the curmudgeonly crud concerning the holidays floating about me lately, I thought I'd make something for the fashionable Scrooge & so-done Santa hat-wearing public. :) Enter "Humbug Horns!" :D

(Horns are $10, and can come in any color. The ones above however are in: [Top] Trad. Candy Cane (white & red), Anit-Cane (black & red), [Above] Candy Swirl (light pink marbled w/black), Trad. Candy Cane, Killer Kandy Kane (white, black & red), and Coal (black).
Any ribbon can be changed out for these lovelies. I've just used matching holiday ribbon to add a bit of coordinated fun. :)

For those merry mischief-makers, for those who wanna wear something unusual & original outside of the classic, traditional Santa hat fare, or for those who just wanna express how much they are "un-pleased" with this time of year, I've made these little holiday-themed, tie-on horns. :)

They'll be on sale @ Bound where I'll be vending tomorrow night, and might also go up in my etsy store. :) (They'd need better pics of them to go up at my shop, of course.)

..This is gonna have to go as a gift to my mom for Christmas... It's her favorite piece of my art lately, and as I know she looooves her canvas totes, this is pretty much a ringer. :)

-And yes, those are indeed little eyeballs sitting atop the letters. :)

I've also made a tote, a mug, and a shirt for my gamers. :)

I asked orthaevelve the other day if it was a good or bad sign that I'd totally buy most of the stuff that I'd been making on Zazzle, and she said it was good. I think so too- it shows that I'm making stuff that I can be proud of as an artist, and which as a consumer, my tastes hopefully represent a market for these things. :) -We can only hope..! :D

Inspired by friends like orthaevelve and jarandhel, I have now resumed selling stuff (or, at least trying to sell stuff) on Etsy. :) You can find my store here; http://www.etsy.com/shop/alternatevisions and if you have any ideas, requests, comments or suggestions, I'm totally game. :)

I've tried selling stuff on Etsy before but nothing sold- so I'm starting out small with just a few pieces to begin with, and then might expand the store further if it looks like my works are selling. :) So I've put what I hope is a nice, even, wide selection of the kinds of styles of art I do in the form of ten pieces up right now, and I'm totally hopin' for the best. :) If you'd like to spread the word, tell your friends or family about my artistic weirdness, I sure won't argue. ;D

Want to Create!

A while back I posted a poem about a piece of imagery that'd been seating itself in my brain. Well it's been coming back to the forefront of my cranium lately, and I'd really like to see it executed in photographic frame.

I could petition the maker of Zach creations to possibly loan me a pair of his gauntlets... I could see if my (prospective), light-haired, elven-looking model might have a decent pair of care-worn bluejeans (or leather pants, possibly) as well as the appropriate boots (something tall, strappy, and weathered-looking- preferably brown or -very- worn black that's gone a tattered grey). If not, I'm almost sure I could find something at either Unique, or as a loaner through the local goff community... And no doubt I could find a loaner staff or makeshift scepter if the photo ended up calling for it- but I don't think it will...
All proper credits would be given fully to any contributors, and if it all worked out & the piece was displayed, I'd absolutely put them on my links pages, as well as list them anywhere else that the piece would be displayed. :) (Yay publicity! ;D)

I could do the body art myself, as well as the hair design using some autumn leaves, a fancy elven-looking headpiece of mine (or someone else's as a borrow, if necessity required), and do the makeup myself as well (for ears, effects, etc.). I could very potentially use some extras to fill in the the small, background roles of the vagabonds and different passers by (like the woman w/a shopping cart and some rich blond w/a tackily loud fur coat), and I'm unsure of whether I'd ghost him in on his between-escalators-stair-made throne at the center of everything or not... ...

Hmm.... Hmm..... Hmmmmm....

All I'd need from there is a better camera, and the ability to use a local subway station for a bit...
-I wonder how impossible getting that would be....

..And lighting.

So.. is there a role, job or permanent occupation out there for someone who thinks up dramatic tableaus for a living? A set designer? Window dresser? Photographer's assistant..??
I have no idea... But I know I can't just draw this- (well, not to the level of realism, naturalism and expansive scope or detail that I'd want, anyway... I'd have to do a room-sized piece, and that's just not possible.) It'd be great to piece this together, though. :) Maybe I could recruit some friends, borrow some fancy equipment for an afternoon, gather up all I'd need, and get this done.... ?? :D:D

Addendum: "And the base goes like this:"

This li'l sketchlet should give you the absolutely, most basic idea of what I'm talking about, here. (Of course, there would be more background scenery on the sides, as I'm thinking this would have to be something like a rather panoramic view. Perhaps a rather large image.. too even- like poster size at least to be able to get the scale & grandeur, and still maintain the detailed focus on him that I want. Moreover, I'm thinkin' I'm going to keep him and the background as the solid elements in the image, and make the passers-by the ghosted ones. This should be pretty easy to do with either real film or digital film layering (as I'd shoot him first, and then all of the other people a few times with, and ten maybe a few times more after), so I'd keep the vagabonds, black-carted bag lady & other traveling people more "ethereal," w/his presence presenting as the more concrete....

..And I suppose I could use a gent w/darker hair... But he would -have- to be able to pull off a certain disheveled, haughty arrogance, and the lax regality of the character- as well as have super-pale skin. (Which we're probably still going to ashen, somewhat.) Plus, he'd still need to be the thin-but-leanly-muscled type some people call "wiry." Long hair is preferable for ease of production...but hell.. at this rate I could possibly also just use a [GOOD] long wig and make it all disheveled and ratty-tatty/dready like I'm picturing, too....

Ahh, so many ideas!! I think I'm going to have to make this happen.
-Perhaps a call to WMATA is in order....
-And maybe a notice to CraigsList after some specific preparations... ^_^

I can has a new work, pre-colour. :)

There will be a fanciful clock-face imprint on the upper-right-hand corner amidst the background soon. :) This was inspired by my love of Knocker fae (and the men in my life who remind me of them), as well as Midnight's upcoming theme on Saturday night (where I'll be vending); which centers around Frankenstein/the commemoration of Boris Karloff's birthday. :)

-And the title of course was inspired by The Dresden Dolls' song "Coin Operated Boy-" as I love the whimsy it inspires, as well as the idea that perhaps it might refer to either the knocker himself or his creation. ^_^ (Or both!.;D)

I slept way, way, waaaay too long last night. But whereas that might normally make me feel groggy, pained and worse than usual, apparently my body was in need of it. The Tired hit me around 8pm last night, and by nine it was like an anvil had hit me, and I was -exhausted.- So by nine ten I was in bed, woke up @ 2 'cause it was hot as hell and I had to open the window & pee like a race horse, and then I just stayed up for a bit & read until around five a.m.- when my eyes could no longer stay open & my book felt like it was strung down w/lead weights. :) Woke up @ ten briefly to chide myself on how much I should really get up, and then went back to sleep again 'til around noon, where I finally woke up naturally, feelin' good, finally rested & refreshed. :) (And waking up from this odd dream where I'd been preparing to go up against Josh Groban in some weird school singing competition at some private place. *lol* He was there during all the competition prep, was extremely nice- giving me pointers here & there. :) And in the end, just before I finally woke up for the last time today, I beat him in the contest. *grins* -Plus, somewhere along the line through the night I'd gotten mated/cross bred/had my DNA infected by some nasty, water-inhabiting, monstrous, squid-like alien. So I ended up w/eyes that turned silver when this bizarre, thick, paint-like, metallic substance flowed over them (from the lower lids like thick, silver tears), and suddenly possessed blue-green/grey tentacula for hair- that was squiggly, slimy, and moved of its own accord like living dreads. There was lots of it, and it wound itself around my head and up at will for one squishy alien hair up-do for the competition. *lol* Bizarro, huh? :D

Anyway, enough of my rampbling. I am showered & clean, wearing cute-but-comfy clothes, and am both looking & feeling pretty darned decent. ^_^ My stomach calls to me for sustenance, and as one roommate is in bed still asleep and another is out for the day, I think I'll take this opportunity to have a relaxing "morning," get a little yardwork & artwork done, and hang out in the living room a bit until everyone wakes/gathers up. :)

I Can Has a Shiny Cat

..Not the best quality photos in the world- (can we say photo glare, boys and girls? ;)) but my Skye was so perty, I just had to share. :)

It's a good mornin' (or now, afternoon), and I'm feelin' pretty good. :) Gotta skidaddle to get some things done before I run errands today, but at present 'm just kind of feeling sorta.. "aaahhhh." ^_^

Rest in Peace, Little Babies

I just buried my boys, Houdini (Aristobulous Rodentipus Shadeling the First) and my wee Shadow (Nicodemus Rodentipus Shadowling the First) out in Raven's back yard. I know that no matter what happens, they have this permanent space to rest in, where little (should) be happening to the land, and where it (should) have the same owner(s) for quite some time. I am extremely grateful for this place to house my little babies in a safe place, for good, and am also really glad to know that they're now buried in an area which is okay w/death, and which is friendly to spirits of many different types. I hope that no matter what happens with me here, they will always have a friendly place to lay (and, perchance to play), and that if they do exist somewhere near here on this plane, that they are happy, well, free of any sadness, pain, fear or discomfort. Maybe somehow they also finally understand how much they were loved and adored, and how much their rat-mommy is going to miss them....

Maybe if they're nearby somewhere in the spirit world and can make a visit, I'll have a little rattie-ghost or two sitting atop my shoulder(s), nibbling my ear(s) and letting me know they might miss me, too... (Or perchance, we might get a few visitors taunting the living kitties here, now that my boys can no longer be hurt? ;):))

I just hope that now that they've gone, they somehow know that they were loved, and that they're not afraid of me anymore... :\

File Issue Help, Please?

Hola! I just have a quick question regarding something of a glitch I just discovered on one of my older podcast posts. I -think- when it was posted, the file worked fine; loaded completely, played in its entirety, etc. However I've come back to it to share it w/people for the holiday, and although I've re-uploaded it & checked the HTML in the post (used to feature a simple player & offer a download link separately), neither the download link nor the file used in the player will load/play completely. I have Yahoo small business web hosting for file storage, but no other file seems to have this issue... However I am left wondering: Could it potentially just be a browser issue? I use Google Chrome, but found that Firefox loaded the file just fine. (Though, there doesn't seem to be this problem w/any other files....)
Does anyone have any idea what might be going wrong? Or, how in heaven I should fix it?

Big Girls, Boys, Bellydancing AND SteamPunk! :D

I'm sorting through a bunch of videos on my YouTube pages, and have finally decided to put all my dellybancing bits in one place. :) So trying to find the SteamPunk vids I aired here eons ago, I came across this. :) Hope those of you who dance, (including men & women alike) will like! :D

Oooh! Plus, BELLYHORROR is coming up this weekend!! Friday night is the BH show AT THE BIRCHMERE, (O.O) and then the rest of the weekend they're going to be having workshops & other BH-related events- including a horrrrific Tribal Cafe, where more All Hallows belly-fun can be had! :D

Also, Galena (or as many of us know her, Kelly or Caitilin), will be hosting one HELL of an All Hallows Hafla this weekend, on Saturday night! There will be TONS of bellydance there, a costume contest, prizes, food & drink (both adult & otherwise), and even a babysitter for those of you who have wee small kiddies. :) (The early half of the night is PG, and the rest will be darker, scarier, and a little more PG-13.) I'm going to be missing out on BellyHorror's after-party to be there, and I -know- it's gonna be great! So join all the folks w/Sestraluna and many of us from Galena's dance classes out in Glen Burnie Saturday night for one amazing, spooky party! :D:D

P.S. Vending last Saturday night @ Midnight went pretty okay. Scott bought one piece, then bought another for a girl who really wanted one of my works, and all the rest was raw customer-age. ;D My white, indoor-painted cat w/the "Welcome" sign on him even got sold- even though he hadn't been lacquered yet! (This of course I told him, and gave him a lower price on it for. It doesn't hurt the product, you just can't put it out in the rain/weather because of it.) So all in all I made about $150, and it seems I'll be vending again next Thursday, @ Tronik's redux of "Spooky." :) Wish me luck there, and at Kelly's Halloween Hafla, where I'll be going as.. something... (I don't yet know what), and hopefully vending a few of my wares. ^_^

Hey everybody! I've gotten the official go-ahead from the Sony people to advertise this event, and this is what they've put out for me to release.. Read on for details!:

ATTENTION WASHINGTON DC ZOMBIES!! Join your fellow DC Zombies at an advanced screening ofColumbia Pictures' ZOMBIELAND (Rated R) on Thursday, October 1 at a local movie theater to be announced soon! Admission is FREE but you must dress like a Zombie. To reserve your seats, RSVP by sending an email to zombielanddc@gmail.com with the full name of each guest. You will receive a confirmation email with event details. After the screening, the undead will walk the streets of DC! Stay tuned for news about an accompanying ZOMBIELAND Zombiewalk to be announced VERY SOON! Check out the Zombieland trailer at http://bit.ly/NpLh9.

I also had a really crazy dream last night, so I'm glad to wake up and "face the day." ;)
(Ghosts trying to throw things at me, people I know in life w/me in places that feel similar, but are different- etc. :))

So how are all of your nights going? Getting good sleep? Able to greet the morning happily..? I sure hope so. :):)
After pulling a pillow out from under me that I've been sleeping with since I got here seems to have done the trick n' now my neck is hurting a LOT less... (It'd been hurting more often and worse than it ever has in my entire LIFE, so I'm grateful that seeeems to be ebbing away now... *crosses fingers*) That's a true good. :D How is you all doin'??
